We were happy to attend the recent Classic TT, held at Red Star racetrack. British riders, and their bikes, were flown into South Africa to race their exotic machines.
Famous riders like Michael Dunlop, Isle of Man TT legend (pictured with Bill), and Steve Parrish of TT commentary fame, and ex-GP rider, were just a few of the quick Brits found in the pits.
Dunlop rode, and won, on these blue/white Suzuki GSX-R750s, which were ‘very trick’ to say the least, passing 1,000cc bikes down the straights. Steve Parrish rode the Texaco Suzuki RG500, which he says was “hard work to ride”, as you can imagine, and worth a fortune in monetary value.
It was great to see huge crowds returning to racing and everyone seemed to have a superb day out, with many retailers from SA selling their goods to the public throughout the pits. If you missed the Classic TT this year make sure you check out Facebook, and the like, for the dates in 2024.
